Job Description

The Technical Program Manager for Solid State Batteries will be responsible for leading fundamental and applied R&D efforts to upscale solid state battery technology large-scale cell manufacturing. An ideal candidate will support in advancing solid state cell manufacturing by solving the bottlenecks identified in processing and assembling of SSB. The candidate will should have a strong record of scientific achievement in the areas of Li-ion batteries, electrochemistry, or solid state electrolytes. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrable technical project management and personnel management.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Plan experiments and analyze electrochemical test results for process validation and optimisation.
  • Manage deliverables and technical reports of team members
  • Interfacing with material and equipment suppliers
  • Developing new cell designs and electrode formulations to extend cycle life and cell performances.
  • Generate IP roadmap and assist in creating patents.
  • Oversee EU and national projects which are aligned with company’s roadmap.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Masters/ Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial lithium-ion technology development
  • 1-2 years of experience in personnel management.

Legal Advisor

What Will You Be Doing?

  • You will provide transactional support for ABEE’s strategic deals and legal advice on the ABEE’s day-to-day operations.
  • You will provide legal support to ABEE’s alliances activities.
  • You will negotiate and draft agreements with ABEE’s partners, clients, and contractors
  • You will define the company strategy regarding all related intellectual property matters.
  • You will ensure smooth and efficient coordination with all relevant internal stakeholders.
  • You will offer training to ABEE employees on regular basis.

Atomistic Modeling Researcher

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate should have good working experience/knowledge in electrochemical modeling of lithium-ion batteries and next-generation energy storage technologies.

Qualifications Required And Experience:

• MS or Ph.D. degree in material science, chemical engineering, electrochemical engineering.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Lithium-ion batteries.
• Strong technical background in Electrochemistry and Cell/Battery development.

Skills Requirements:

• Assist in the development of equivalent circuit models for lithium-ion cells and battery packs and use them to simulate a variety of operating conditions
• Assist in the development and simulation of electrochemical models of lithium-ion cells and electrodes to better understand the physical and electrochemical phenomenon
• Process experimental data for the development and upscaling of coin cells to monolayer and multi-layer pouch cells.

Battery Modeling Engineer

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate should have good working experience/knowledge in battery modelling electro-thermal/physic-based. Excellent knowledge on system identification, SOX estimations, and EIS.

Qualifications Required And Experience:

• MS or PhD degree in engineering.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of Industrial/academic experience in electric vehicles.

Skills Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge in design and sizing of battery systems from the electrical and mechanical point of views.
  • Good knowledge in state function development and calibration in embedded BMS.
  • The candidate should have good knowledge of validation of battery modules and systems.

Lithium-Ion Battery Researcher

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate should have good working experience/knowledge in Advanced Lithium-Ion Batteries to fabricate the pouch cells (includes Gen3b with high voltage or gel polymer electrolyte moving towards Solid-State electrolytes). The scope also includes the capability to scale-up the concept to production scale. This position requires more than 70% work in lab activities.

Qualifications Required and experience:

  • MS or PhD degree in material science, chemical engineering, electrochemical engineering.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Industrial experience in Lithium-ion batteries.
  • Strong technical background in Electrochemistry and Cell/Battery development.

Skills requirements:

  • Hands on experience to fabricate and characterize lithium-ion batteries pouch cells in lab scale (500mAh- 2Ah) and pilot scale (10-30Ah).
  • Fundamental knowledge to scale-up the lab scale concept to production scale.
  • Strong knowledge of Advance lithium-ion batteries technology especially in generation 3b technology, slurry formulation, electrode preparation and cell design.

The scope also includes on various solid-state electrolytes, inorganic/organic/hybrid solutions to protect lithium foils and has the capability to scale-up the concept to production scale. This position expects the candidate to work 70% of the time in lab environment.

Qualifications Required and experience:

  • MS or PhD degree in material science, chemical engineering, electrochemical engineering.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Industrial experience in Lithium-ion batteries.
  • Strong technical background in Electrochemistry and Cell/Battery development.

Battery Modeling Engineer

ABEE is looking for a highly committed person to undertake the role of ‘Battery Modeling Engineer’.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop robust battery models to predict cell behavior including but not necessarily limited to rate performance, life degradation, calendar aging, electrochemical and thermal response, and safety related behavior
  • Provide novel solutions of battery management control system to optimize dischargeable capacity, cycle life, and charge time
  • Formulate and execute designs of experiments to acquire sufficient data to train, validate, and test the battery models
  • Work on battery estimation algorithms regarding SOC, SOH, impedance, and performance limitation under given operating conditions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, test, and maintain your model
  • Deliver documents related to model and algorithm development
  • Collaborate with battery team to determine and achieve battery performance and lifetime targets

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or PhD degree in EE, ME, CS, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Materials or related field
  • Fundamental knowledge of lithium-ion cell electro chemistries and mechanisms
  • Experienced in creating, ECM, Multiphysics-based models, thermal, mechanical systems
  • Skilled in code developing tools such as Python and MATLAB

Battery Thermal Management

ABEE is looking for a highly committed person to undertake the role of ‘Battery Thermal Management’.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Design and evaluate thermal system architectures for different vehicle platforms.
  • Define system level requirements, develop concepts and perform trade-off analysis.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to define requirements for thermal management system control.
  • Support the optimization of thermal management concepts.
  • Support integration of component level thermal system controller with vehicle control unit.
  • Run drive tests with thermal system controller to gather battery pack and vehicle thermal data.
  • Identify issues with thermal management system controller and provide sufficient solutions to management for consideration.
  • Build and manage a strong business relationship with suppliers.
  • Lead test plan development, issue resolution, and lab and in-vehicle testing of drivetrain units.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master/PhD’s degree, in automotive or Mechanical engineer or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of development experience in automotive industry
  • Extensive experience with various modes of heat transfer and thermal management materials and techniques, preferably in automotive applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAE software tools, especially thermal CFD and FEA tools
  • Knowledge in developing formulations and verify the simulation by experiment design and measurement task are needed.
