BE-VOLT Battery System - Giga Factory
ABEE has announced its plans to build a battery pack giga-factory in the Walloon Region of Belgium. The project is in a well advanced phase. The Walloon government has already given its full support. Located in Seneffe-Manage and with an annual capacity of 3 GWh, it is projected to create from 300 up to 500 job opportunities. The project has been named “BE-VOLT Battery Systems” and has gained major interest from the Belgian media.
This will be the first giga-factory in Belgium. With the shift towards carbon neutrality, ABEE will play an important role in the supply of battery packs for electric vehicles and stationary applications. The new European guidelines require very strict climate targets by 2030 and 2050.
Currently, the supply of battery packs is dependent on major non-EU players. By 2030, these imported batteries will no longer meet European standards. ABEE’s giga-factory will be the first in Europe to produce battery packs with low carbon footprint.
