Cell Prototyping Engineer

Avesta Battery & Energy Engineering (ABEE) offers an exciting job opportunity in battery research & development. We seek a Cell Prototyping Engineer to work in our R&D team to help us bring ABEE battery cell technology to the next level. The R&D team at ABEE focuses on research & development of next-generation battery technologies, cell prototyping, testing, and post-mortem characterization of battery cells.

What you’ll do at ABEE

• Operation of battery cell pilot line for Li-ion cells, i.e., slurry mixing, casting of electrodes, notching, stacking and welding of electrodes, electrolyte filling, cell sealing, and forming and cycling of prototypes
• Support cell product development and plan pilot line activities
• Work closely with other team members to understand and solve failure modes, increase performance and life expectancy of prototypes
• Optimize processes to reduce scraps during pilot line production
• Conduct trials and report results to your team lead

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field
• Deep understanding of the physics and chemistry behind battery production lines
• Previous dry room experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, safety, and organizational skills
• Communicative skills in an interdisciplinary and international work environment
